Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms set out the rights, obligations and responsibilities between the Operator and members that are necessary for using "Danbi" (the "Service") provided by Jaewon Kim (김재원, the "Operator").

Article 2 (Definitions)

  1. "Danbi" is a service for reading and reflecting on the Bible every day, and also the name of the character who talks to you within the Service.
  2. A "member" is a person who has agreed to these Terms and created an account through social login (Kakao, Naver, Google or Apple).
  3. A "reflection record" is the text and emotion a member leaves once a day. Only the member can see its content.
  4. "Companionship" is a group in which several members read the same chapter together on the same day. A "guide" is the member who leads a companionship.
  5. "Profile information" is information that may be visible to other members, such as handle, display name, profile photo and church affiliation.

Article 3 (Posting and amendment of the Terms)

  1. The Operator posts these Terms in the app and at dan-bi.com/terms.
  2. The Operator may amend these Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate applicable laws. When amending them, the Operator announces the effective date and the changes at least 7 days before they take effect. Changes unfavorable to members are announced at least 30 days in advance, and members are also notified separately by app notification or email.
  3. If a member does not agree to the amended Terms, the member may stop using the Service and delete their account. If a member continues to use the Service after the effective date, the member is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms. However, agreement to unfavorable changes is not deemed in this way; the Operator obtains the member’s agreement again in the app.
  4. Versions of the Terms that members have already agreed to are not overwritten. When the Terms are amended, previous versions are also posted at dan-bi.com/terms.

Article 4 (Content of the Service)

  1. The Operator provides the following services free of charge.
    • Today’s reflection: Bible passage, common questions, reflection records
    • Streaks and XP
    • Companionship, follow and cheers
    • Service notifications
  2. There are currently no paid services. If paid services are introduced, their conditions will be added to these Terms and announced in accordance with Article 3.
  3. The Operator may change features to improve the Service. Changes unfavorable to members are announced in advance.

Article 5 (Suspension of the Service)

  1. The Operator may temporarily suspend the Service in the following cases.
    • Inspection, replacement or failure of equipment
    • Communication failures
    • Natural disasters or other unavoidable causes
  2. Suspensions that can be foreseen are announced in advance; otherwise, they are announced afterwards.
  3. To end the Service permanently, the Operator gives notice at least 30 days in advance. Members are given time to review their own reflection records.

Article 6 (Membership registration)

  1. Membership registration is completed when a user has reviewed and agreed to these Terms and the Privacy Policy and then completed social login (and, if the social account does not provide a verified email address, also completed email verification).
  2. Persons under 14 years of age cannot sign up. At sign-up, the user confirms that they are 14 or older.
  3. A handle cannot be changed once set. A display name can be changed.
  4. The Operator may refuse registration, or later terminate the service agreement, in the following cases.
    • The person has misappropriated another person’s information
    • The person’s use has previously been restricted for violating these Terms

Article 7 (Notices to members)

  1. To notify an individual member, the Operator uses app notifications, the in-app Notifications screen, or the email address registered at sign-up.
  2. To notify all members, the Operator may instead post a notice in the app or on dan-bi.com for at least 7 days. However, matters that significantly affect members’ rights or obligations are notified individually by the methods in paragraph 1.

Article 8 (Account deletion and restriction of use)

  1. Members may delete their account at any time in the app or on the web (dan-bi.com/delete-account). On the web, the account is deleted after confirmation through the email address registered at sign-up.
  2. When an account is deleted, its data is erased without delay, except for records that laws require to be retained. What is retained and for how long is described in the Privacy Policy. Temporarily stopping use is not deletion.
  3. If a member violates Article 9, the Operator may take the following measures depending on the severity.
    • Hiding the relevant profile information
    • Restricting some features
    • Terminating the service agreement
  4. When the Operator takes a measure under paragraph 3, it informs the member of the reason and accepts objections. However, where something must be hidden urgently to protect other members, the Operator may act first and notify afterwards.

Article 9 (Obligations of members)

Members must not engage in the following acts.

  1. Misappropriating another person’s information or impersonating another person
  2. Harassing or threatening other members, or repeatedly contacting them against their wishes
  3. Using a display name or profile photo that is obscene, violent or incites hatred
  4. Using display names, companionship names, invitations or follow requests to proselytize or recruit for a particular organization, or to advertise for commercial purposes, to members who do not want it
  5. Using the Service abnormally or interfering with its operation
  6. Violating laws

Article 10 (Reports and blocking)

  1. If a member believes another member’s handle, display name or profile photo violates Article 9, the member may report it.
  2. When a report is made, the reporting member and the other member are immediately blocked from each other. The other member is not notified of the block.
  3. A reported profile photo is immediately hidden from all members; after review, the Operator either restores it or keeps it hidden. The Operator takes action within 24 hours of receiving the report.

Article 11 (Rights to reflection records and content)

  1. The rights to a reflection record belong to the member who wrote it. The Operator does not use reflection records for anything other than providing the Service. They are not used for promotion or shown to anyone else.
  2. The content of a reflection record is always visible only to its author. Other members see only status, such as whether the member started together with them or has finished for today. There is no feature to change this visibility.
  3. The display name and profile photo set by a member are used only to represent the member within the Service.
  4. The rights to Bible texts belong to their respective rights holders. What is displayed in the app and the extent to which it may be shared differ for each translation.
  5. The rights to content created by the Operator, such as the Service screens, the character "Danbi" and the common questions, belong to the Operator.
  6. Judgments of faith about the content of a reflection are for the member to make. Danbi does not summarize or rewrite Bible texts.

Article 12 (Obligations of the Operator)

  1. The Operator complies with laws and these Terms and endeavors to provide the Service reliably.
  2. The Operator protects members’ personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
  3. The Operator receives and handles members’ opinions and complaints at danbi@dan-bi.com and informs them of the results.

Article 13 (Limitation of liability)

  1. The Operator is not liable if it cannot provide the Service due to natural disasters or equivalent force majeure.
  2. The Operator is not liable for damages caused by reasons not attributable to the Operator, such as problems with a member’s device or network, or outages of app stores or social login providers.
  3. In connection with the Service provided free of charge, the Operator is not liable, to the extent permitted by law, for damages that do not involve the Operator’s intent or gross negligence.
  4. The foregoing limitations do not apply to damages caused by the Operator’s intent or gross negligence.

Article 14 (Dispute resolution)

  1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. If a dispute arises, the Operator and the member first consult with each other in good faith.
  3. If consultation fails and a lawsuit is brought, it is filed with the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act (「민사소송법」).

Addendum

These Terms take effect on October 6, 2026.
